Our Steps to Homeownership

Orientation & Enrollment
Our FREE virtual orientation provides an overview of our services and how to get enrolled.
Create an account and schedule your homebuyer education course. You can take it online at your own pace or in-person at our headquarters in Pine Lawn.
Your certificate of completion will be good for two years. The course fee is $125. See below for details. After your course, you will receive a Homebuyer Education Certificate, which may be required for some downpayment assistance programs.

Homebuyer Education
Costs $125 and is available online or in-person. Learn about financial planning and the home buying process.

Homeownership Counseling
Costs $75. Work with our HUD-Certified Counselor to make your action plan for moving toward homeownership.

Downpayment Assistance
Zero interest loans for first time buyers! Subject to eligibility criteria. Borrowers must contribute $1000. Homebuyer Education and Counseling must be complete in order to apply.

Online Training
Complete our online Homebuyer Education on your schedule.
The Homebuyer Education class is pre-recorded, so you can take it at any time. The class takes about 4-6 hours to complete, and you can log in and out at your convenience.
The class is available in English or Spanish. The fee is $125.00.
Saturday classes
The in-person class takes about 8 hours, with a break for lunch (included in the cost).
The fee for classroom training, including lunch and all materials, is $125.00.

HOW DOES THE HOMEBUYER EDUCATION PROGRAM WORK?
The Homebuyer Education Program is designed to educate, counsel, advocate, and assist homebuyers with the homebuying process. We do this by providing homebuyer education that covers the benefits of homeownership, credit, lending practices, home inspections, and more. Our homeownership advisors assist with credit building, budgeting, and savings plans.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM HOMEOWNERSHIP READY?
A one-on-one advising session can help determine if you are ready for homeownership.
DO I QUALIFY FOR DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE?
For information on that Program, visit the Downpayment Assistance page. In your one-to-one session, our HUD-Certified Homeownership Counselor can help you review and understand down payment assistance eligibility criteria.
FEES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
- HUD approved Home Buyer Education class are $125, paid upon registration.
- HUD approved Housing Counseling has a one-time fee of $75, paid when you schedule.
- Tri-merged credit pull is $20.81 per individual.
Fees are non-refundable.
RESCHEDULING OR CANCELLING IN-PERSON CLASSES
In the event that you are unable to attend class, 24-hours notice is required prior to the course start time. If requested before the 24-hour window, Beyond Housing will reschedule your class for a future onsite course on our calendar. The option to take the online education course in lieu of the onsite course will be made available by contacting Beyond Housing directly.
CANCELLED OR POSTPONED CLASS
Occasionally, classes are cancelled or postponed by Beyond Housing due to low enrollment, weather conditions or other situations affecting volunteers, personnel or staff. In the event that a class is cancelled or postponed by Beyond Housing, we will place you in the next available class and rescheduling. In this case, please contact Beyond Housing directly for seating availability. You can apply your payment to an online course if another onsite class is not available.
The information you provide to Beyond Housing shall be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
